FOOTBALL NOTES.
[By Damocles.]
Tho Oriontals held their first practice on the new ground in Lincoln Eoad yesterday, when they were defeated by a team of all-comers by 21 points to nil. The winners included some very " old boys," and although the scoring was one-sided, tho qamo was a fairly evenly contested one. The Mnstorton Club practice on the Park Oval to-morrow, and the Red Stars occupy the Te Ore Ore ground. As cup matches commence within a few weeks itbehoveß every player who has the interests of his Olub at heart, and who intends, to take part in the glories of the coming season, .to make a start, and I hope to see both grounds occupied, by every playing member of the respective Clubs. The application of the Otago Union for admission to the New Zealand Union will bo proposed by Canterbury, and seconded by Wellington. . The following excellent resolution has been passed at a meeting of athletic delegates in Wellington, and I would like to see it become a recognised law all through tho country:— "That at' tho end of cricket and football seasons the secretaries of Clubs exchange lists of defaulting members, and pledge themselves to protect one another's interests by refusing to allow any defaulting member so posted to play under their jurisdiction until tho amount owing has been paid"
