Received April 20, 10,45 a.m. Sydxky, April 20, A deputation of Civil Servant: waited on the Premier, and askei that the administration of the super animation fund and solo control of all appointments and promotion! in the Service bo vested in i Hoard of Commissioners rcspon sibie to Parliament, and tba tho Government allow the Civi Servanls lo form a fund anion! themselves, on commercial principles with Government assistance in tin shape of four per cent, debentures The deputation admitted that tin pensions would have to be reduced bill thought the proposed reduction were harsh. Jlr Jxeid said the siipernnnnatioi fund was an iiilieritiuice from pre vinus administrations, and wa typical of the way the finances o the Colony had been managed. Th state of the fund was ut .scandal, am ii disgrace to the country, and th matter was serious, and would bav the careful consideration of th Government, who were desirous o placing the fund on a better basil He thought the deputation was pni suing a wise course in moving in th direction of a life insurance system but one great difficulty in the wa; was that the majority in the Paiiia ment was opposed to pensions. Som serious changes would probably havi to be made in the Civil Service, bu every individual would receive afai remuneration for his services.
