TROUBLE WITH THE NATIVES
By Tekgntpli.—F.m Association, Auckland, Friday, Another survey cmbrogiio has occurred in the Uriwera country, and Inspector Hickson last night received instructions from the Premierto proceed at once with au armed force of police and permanent artillery to 'Whakntanc, Bay of Plenty, in consequence of a disturbance near lluatoki. The Uriwera natives in large force obstructed a Burvry party, took their instruments and assailed the surveyors. Inspector Hickson leaves this afternoon per the [steamer Chelmsford with a force of about forty pc lice and artillery under Lieut, Hume. The men are under orders to pveparc for au indefinite stay in the Uriwera country. The Premier informs Inspector Hickson that it is best to make as strong a show of the Government force as possible, adding that in a matter of this kind eipenso is immaterial.
