MONTHLY MEETING.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the Wairarapa North County Council was hold on Thursday. Present —Crs von Eeden (chaitman),Smith, Beeiham, Groves, Guild, CockbuinHood and Stuckey. Jfc MINUTES. of the preyiouß meeting were read and confirmed. TIMBER TRAFFIC. The Public Works Department ■wrote in reply to the request of the Council that the timber traffic be declared heavy traffic, to the effecl that under the clause of the Acl timber traffic was heavy traffic, and no declaration was necessary. II was resolved to hand over the lettei to the Council's solicitor, at the eame time drawing bis attention t( his own opinion. COUNT! BOUNDARIES. The Chairman of the Pahiatui County Wiflte in reference to tb adjustment of the County boundarie asking for a Conference. ' Cr Smith said it was hardl; necessary aB it was probable that a: Act would be introduced whic' would obyiate the difficulty. On the motion of Cr Stuckey, i •was resolved that the Chairman an Cr Smith meet and confer with th Chdjftan of the Pahiatua Count] , onif boundary question. A MT. BAKER ROAD DEVIATION. Mr Groves wrote, asking when tl deviation on his section on th lit. Baker Road, would be effected, as he wanted to drain his property, and was waiting for a line to be marked, i The letter was referred to Mr R. P, Greville, with the request that he fuvnish the plans as soon as possible. SUCGHTERtNO LICENSE. A license was g/anted to W. A. Cameron, Upper Tauern. 61GMNG CONTRACTS. Crs Stuckey and Beetham were appointed to sign contracts. THE WAITOUA ItRIDGB, The action of the Committee appointed to confer with the Committee of the Mastcrton Borough 'Council, to adjust the proportion of ' the cost of repairs and maintenance, ivas confirmed. RETURNS OF RATING AREAS. flu estimated cost of preparing plsßof rating areas in connection with the loans, etc., within the County,was stated by the Clerk to he * £B7 2s. . It was resolved that the various fload Boards within the County be
asked if they will contrihuto towards tho cost of the preparation. — Carried. FINANCE RETORT. The report of the Finance Committee was read and adopted. BY-LAWS, * It was resolved that the by-laws and schedule drafted by Mr 8011, be adopted, and the Govornment bo written to on tho subject, pointing out that tho power granted to local bodies in the new Public Works Act, makes it impossible to distinguish between the different classes of vehicles. ekginebe's RETORT. The Engineer's report was read. The recommendation of tho Engineer to hold over certain payments, was adopted, and his suggestions in regard to Britt's contract, wore approved, That the wator should he let off from slip on Saunder's road, at as little cost as possible. WILLOW NUISANCE. That tho attention of tho Government be directed to tho willow nuisanco, and that they be asked to legislate so as to meet tho difficulty, MR. MCLACHLAn's ILLNESS. A resolution was passed, sympathising with Mr McLachhn in his illness, and hoping for his early recovory. The Engineer's reportwas adopted. AKIIIO STOCK RESERVE. It was resolved that the Government be written to again n the Akitio stock reserve LAXflDON's' METAL I'M'. It was resolved that the Engineer be asked to report on what compensation should he paid to Messrs Langdonßros. for gravel taken from their pit. Napier's crossint,.
The Engineer was instructed to prepare plans for the bridge at Napier's crossing, and submit them to the Survey Department on the understanding that only the timber bo cut at present.
It was resolved that the Government ho requested to put in a pipe or totara culvert on the road near Corrigan's section, Barton's Lino.
