Medicai. men are responsible for an oyster scare in England, by pronouncing the bivalves to be typhoid distributors. The effects of the scare has been terrible to the trade; oysters were selling at 4s Gd per dozen, most of the price representing profit to the dealers, but with the medical dictum the profit has vanished, In one place where the takings used to bo £IOO pur week, only £5 is now taken. At one oyster bed locality, 300 men used to be in full work, dredging day by day, but the demand for the bivalve has so much declined, that tivo days' dredging in a fortnight, is sufficient foi all needs.
