PROPOSED BOILING-DOMN COMPANY.
A mooting of settlers interested in the formation of a company to lease the Waingawa boiling-down works, met at the Prince of Wales Hotel, Masterton on Saturday afternonto receive the report of the Committee appointed to draw up the same. The chair was occupied by Mv I. Sykes. The report was read by Mr Keith, affirming the advisability of forming a company, more for the purpose of enabling farmers to co-operate and find a market for their sheep. Arrangements had been made for the leasing of the Waingawa works and the report stated that the opinion of an expert could be obtained this week as to the state of the machinery. The report was unanimously adopted. It was stated that since the proposal to form a Company at Masterton, the Gear Company had offered to take sheep at slightly increased rates.
Mr DeLisle said he had been promised about 150 shares already. Mr I. Sykes thought a Committee should be appointed to canvass for shares, the same to act as Provisional Directors.
Mr Keith agreed with this suggestion, If a sufficient number of shares were taken up the Company could be registered. The Committee could draw up a prospectus and circulate it.
Messrs W.B.Buick, W.B.Allen, Sykes, Keith, A. Walker, A. Pilmer, Mowlern, E. E. Chamberlain, W. McKenzie, and J. Hessey, were appointed Provisional Directors with power to add to their number.
Sinco tho meeting Mr W. Lowes has consented to act with the above.
It'was decided that a general meeting be called by the Directors for Saturday next at 3 p, m.
