EXCELSIORS v. W.F.C.A. Tho third and final match of thi season between the above Clubs was played on the Oval yesterday, resulting in a well-deserved win for the Excelsiors by twenty-four runs. The match ww an extremely interesting one, being the conquering game, each Club having one win to their credit. A good number of spectators were present, and the result, although not unexpected by some, was a surprise for the majority, the W.P.C.A. team being one of the strongest thoy have placed in tho field this 6eason. The Excelsiors played pluckily and determinedly throughout, and the excellent bowling of Wrigby and Bennett booh had tho opposing team in danger. They also fielded exceedingly well, no chances whatevor being thrown away. Out of a total of 54, Wickena (14), and Nicol (11), woro the top scorers for thewinnors, and Hawke was tho only one to enter double figures for the Farmora, Tho following wore tho scores:—

The opinion of Charles Tumor, expressed in the Ikrieui of Reviews by the Surrey batsman, ii shared by nearly every English cricketer: -"I have met," says Brookwell, many break back bowlers, but Turner has one supremo advantago over them all; it lies in his tremondous pace from tho pitch. How he commands it _is a puzzle to mo. Bowlers of this calibre create a school, and this fact is sufficient to ensure the cricketing future of the colonies." In an article in the Review of Reviews, W, Brockwell, the English cricketers, says that" Goorge Giffen stands, perhaps, without a peer as an all-round player. His batting includes every quality of excellence, and his bowling is of an equally high standard. On a perfect wicket, indeed, he shines when other brilliant bowlers fail. I offer my opinion with due deference to that of hotter judges, but having seen Giffen repeatedly perform upon "billiardtable " pilches, I venture to think that he has no superior in the world, His perception is so quick, and his attack so adroit that he is continually getting players that have mot him for years, He bowls every ball with an object, and perhaps delivers ii fewer bad balls than any other' , bowler in Australia 1 "
MrC.T.B, Turner, the famous bowler, who isreported in Melbourne to have said he is done with cricket, is the only Australian who has secured a thousand wickets in first class cricket, and during ten' years ho has bowled nearly twico as many balls as T. W. Garrett has dono in seventeen years, Tumor has taken 1042 wickete at an average of 1343 rans-an unparalleled achievement,
