(From Our Own Correspondent,) Friday. Tho ordinary monthly meeting of tho School Committee was held on Wednesday evening. Present: Messrs Cox (chairman), Kent-Johnston (secretary), Spackman, Wovsley, Fry, Toogood. The minutes of the previous ordinary and special meetings were read and confirmed. The Treasurer's statement shewed a credit balance of £4 19s Id.

Accounts amouuting to £2 3s 81 were passed for payment, The Headmaster reported th average attendance as 180 out of 217 and that somo of tho girls have m clubs to drill with, and he suggestoi that the Committee should suppl; these. He enclosed the usual list 0 defaulters. The Committee were strongly ad verse to supplyiug clubs, as it woult establish a bad precedent, so thi Secretary undertook to see thi yarions parents, and get them t< provide their children with clubs, As to the defaulters tho Secretar] was instructed to issue notices t< those parents whose children are ir regular in their attendance, bu where the parents have alreadj received notices and the childrei continue irregular, the Secretar; was instructed to take proceedingi against, Messrs Cox, Toogood, ant Kent-Johnston were appointed < committee to draw up a report to bi submitted with the balance sheet a the annual meeting, The visitor! appointed for the month were thi Chairman and the Secretary, th visitors for the previous month hav ing reported fayourably, In reply to an invitation from th Town Board some of the leadinj citizens met yesterday afternoon t discuss the advisability of getti/ij up a ball to help to defray the cost 0 the new piano which has just bee: bought for the Town Hall.
