Tin; Education Board contemplate abolishing the ollice of liislnicliii' of Calisthenics, first on Ibe ground of economy, and secondly because the work of physical training could be carried out by the teachers. The second reason seems very much like special pleading, Undoubtedly teachers would relax physical training in schools as soon as the stimulus supplied by M. de Mey's periodical visits became withdrawn. This is hun.au nature, especially in a case like this where teachers work under pressure. If the Hoard considers that physical training is superfluous, it will be quite just : fiod in dismissing ils instructor, but we do not ourselves regard it as the least valuable feature in the school curriculum.
