in the pockets of settlers, but it is usually in dull seasons like tbo present one that new entoprises are launched—that now ventures have to bo undertaken. Wo shall bo glad to seo the presont proposal carried out if the project can bo launched successfully. A provisional directory of good business men will be an essential condition, and this we trust will be secured. In boiling down there may be good immediate profits, but a rise in tlio price of stock would keep this industry within narrow limits. Fellmongery and the manufacture of manure, are enterprises which are capable of considerable extension aud of pormanont value. Why should Wairarapa farmers have to bring tlio manure they consume, over the Rimutaka, when it can be manufactured at home ?
