ALLEGED FELONY.

A man named Thos. Connor, with several aliases,\m brought up before Mesßrs Price and Donovan, J.P.'s, at Mastorton this morning charged with feloniously taking a Gladstone hand-bag, on tho 26th inat., tho property of Wm. Thompson, of Masterton. The accused pleadod guilty. Sergeant McArdle, in stating the case, said accused had been previously convicted on a similar charge and was a roan of bad ropute, Evidence was given as to the ownership of tho bag which, together. with the contents, was valued at 20s. Also evidence ns to seeing tho accused take the property and put it away in his swag. Another charge was laid against tho accused of maliciously damaging Government property, namely, the lock on tho police coll door, to the valuo of 2s Gd. Sergt, McArdle informed the Bench that accused behaved in a very erratic manner while in the lock-up, and ho would ask that both charges bo dealt with separately. The Bench, after admonishing the accused for his had conduct, sentenced him to three months' on the charge of felony, and ordered him to pay the damage amounting to 2s 6d for breaking the lock of the coll door, with an alternative of 24 hours imprisonment.
