Butter's property at Papaitonga Lake, which has been famed for its beauty and. picturesqueness was considerably damaged by firelast month, Sir Walter is suing a farmer named Jillet for £IOOO damages on the plea that the tire was caused by his burnins; oil fallen bush. The witnesses for the plaintiff deposed that tho estate was largely spoiled as a residence, by the ravages of the fire in the bush, which formed the main charm. One stated that half its yaluehad gone, and another said he would have been glad, if in Sir W, Buller's position, to give a thousand pound to prevent what had occurred,
