Masterton, Monday. Messrs R, E, Homblow and Co., auctioneers and produce merchants, report as follows for the week ending Saturday, March 16th Wo have nothing in particular to report this week. Owing to tho low prices ruling all round business lias not been above the average, Oats are a shade lower than our previous quotations, by taking large consign-1 ments. Potatoes remain firm at our wholesalo quotations and unless we have rain very shortly thoy must go up in value. Eggs have gone up and are difficult to purchase at our quotation. Butter shews a tendency to go up, This is attributed to grass getting scarce. Poultry fell in price at our last sale. Good dairy cows are being enquired for and fair prices can bo obtained for good milkers. At our horse sale on Saturday we had a number of buyers but with two or three exceptions the reserves placed on horses were too high. There was little or no demand for pigs, Business was not quite as brisk in|ouv property department, although we had several enquiries, nothing of very great importance eventuated, Tho following are our wholesale prices:— Eggs, lOd per dozen; butter, 5Jd per lb. Poultry-Fowls, Is lOd to 2s j ducks, 4s 6d j turkeys and geese, no entries. Pigs—Slips and weauers, 7s to 9s. Produce—Oats, Is 5d to ls9d; oaten sheaf, 2s 3d to 2a 6d; straw chaff, Is to Is 2d per bag. Potatoes, £2lss to £3los per ton; Mbit skins, 2id to3|d per lb; sheep skins, 2d per lb. Horses-Hacks, £3 5s to £6los; draughts and trap horses, £6 to £l2. Dairy cow 6, £4los to £6 2s 6d!
