FIRE AT PALMERSTON.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association). Palmerston N., Thursday. A serious fire occurred here at two o'clock this morning, the Theatre r Royal,owned by Mr Simeon, and two shops owned by Mr Kerslake were burned to the ground. The Theatujfc was insured for £IOOO, £SOO each P the Alliance and the London and Lancashire. MrKerslake's building was insured for £250 in the Standard, and £l5O in the Liverpool and Globe. f Carnody's Central Hotel adjoining, was slightly damaged. Pollard's Juvenile Opera Company which was > playing a season here, lost part of its wardrobe, scenery etc on which there is no insurance. The cause ■ of the fire is unknown, and was first discovered iu the stage of the \ theatre.
