At the Presbyterian Assembly it . was announced that the Victorian Church had cabledhomean order to construct amission steamer for service amongst the South Sen Islands. ■ The Assembly therefore adopted 1 the report of its own committee, which stated that New South Wales was unable to increase its present contribution towards its maintenance, in the meantime in connection, one speaker expressed the opinion that the _ Victorian Church had acted against its better judgment under pressure of Dr Paton, The Assembly rejected the Temperance Committee s report in favour of the Gothenburg system, and adopted an amendment in support of full local option without compensation.
