FIRE BRIGADE CONFERENCE.
{By Telegraph—Press Association). Hokitika, Monday. The delegates for the Fire Brigade Conference who jouneyed ovei'land reached here this morning, having experienced a very rough trip across the ranges. Both coaches were stuck up, and the occupants of one were forced to take shelter in a roadman's hut on Iriday night, lieing unable to reach the hotel. The other coach was delayed for 24 hours at Bealey, The remainder of the delegates cjfce down by the Wainui to GreymSJth bar on Friday, and being unable tO enter, returned to Westport; left thei" e by the Grafton at 8 o'clock this moiU'ig ant l reached Greymouth to-n'ight, when they came on by special t.vain. The non-ai-nral of the delegates caused the postponement of the Conference until to-morrow morning, when business will l ,e pushed on as rapidly as possible. The visitors arc to be entertained at a public social to-morrow.
