COMMERCIAL.
F. H. Woods reports yesterday's stock sale as the best held at the Taratahi yards this season, both in point of number of entries and quality of stock yarded. There was a large attendance, all parts of the district being represented, and a number from Wellington. Considerably more stock was yarded, than had been advertised, and the competition was much more spirited than lias been the rule of late. Most I of the stock changed hands under 1 tho hammer, but prices are still in favour of buyers. Sheep maintained last sale rates, but young cattle showed a downward tendency J Horses are still a drug in the market, The following is a quotation of prices realized :
Sum—Lambs, shoru3s to 3s6d; culls Is; culls in the wool, 4s; ewes, 3s to 6s; culls, Is 9d to 2s 3d; i wethers, 2-tootb, 5s lid; rams, English Leicester (sold privately) 12i guineas; others, 10s 6d to 30s. Cattlk—Calves, poor and small, lls.to. lftfi.d; fairly good, 20? to* 26s j yearlings, 30s j 2 to 2|-year-old steers, GOs to 60s. 3 and 4-year-old bullocks,'B6s to 94s Gd; fat cows 90s to 110s.
