GREYTOWN NOTES.
(From Our Own Correspondent), The usual weekly meeting of the Mutual Improvement and Theologi. cal Society, met last night,' when a) paper was read by Miss Hall, viz,/' "Should servant-girls come under the eight hours' system," and a paper by Miss Hornblow, on " Edu. cation," Mr Tonks, of Wellington, conducted service in the Wesleyan Church, 011 Sunday morning. To-morrow night, a phonograph exhibition will be given in the Pres. byterian Church. All proceeds, after expenses are paid, will go to the Maori Mission Fund.
Tho Kev. S. J. Gibson and family are expected to arrive from Iheir Australian hip, in about afortflfet, Mr J, Wilkie, one of the eaniest settlers m Greytown,intends leaving the district shortly, and proposes to sottle in the Taranaki district, i The annual meeting of the Fire Brigade was held in the Brigade Hall last night, a large number of members being in attendance. The election of officers resulted as follows: Captain Maguire (re-elected); first Lieutenant, T. Fisher; second Lieu* tenant, H. Duff ( first Branbhman, J. Dallas; Secretary, W. Matthews. A meeting of the Sports Committee [will be held on Saturday evening.
