Featherston Notes.
(From Our Own Correspondent). Monday. Mr Tidswell, whoso house was burnt down 011 Friday, was having his tea at the time, the first thing he knew was when the flames burst through the roof and he had to make his escape through the window. Nothing was saved and a snbscription list in aid of he and his wife has been started, and is being liborally supported. The house was insured for £75 in the Victoria Office.
The meeting which ivas hold on Friday evening, to try aud arrange about a permanent medical man,was adjourned till next Wednesday, as so few were in attendance, owing to the School excursion and the fires I roundabout.
The Road Board meeting which was adjourned from the previous Saturday to lust Saturday for confirming special orders again lapsed for want of a quorum.
