SECOND DAY.

Yesterday Brown, of Christchurch, and Angeil, of Wellington, were pretty well knocked out. Angeil will not start in tho Thrco Milo event, Dodwell taking his place, Brown is suffering from a strain sustained in tho High Jump yesterday, but will essay the long jump. Yesterday Brown suffered his first defeat in tho High Jump, and after Bailey decided to attempt sft 9in, but the Committee, owing to presstire of time were unable to give him an opportunity. The two " B's " are a dandy pair of jumpers and would fake beating in any company. Auckland is regarded as a "Monte" for the banner, with Canterbury a good second. However, should Martin and lioheits fail in the 410 Hurdles, Canterbury may curry off tho honors,
In the evening the visitors are to be entertained at a social, and on Sunday aro to he driven around the suburb's.
At 1.40 steady rain set in. One Mile Walk.—Brady, Auckland, 1; Creamer, Auckland, '2; Talbot, Wellington, 3. These were the only starters, The Northerners again had the race to themselves, Brady won on snil'rance by a couple of yards. Time, 7min 21fsees. Final 100 Yards, - Patrick, Wei[lington, 1; Nathan, Wellington, 2; Holder, Wangamii, o. Patrick ran a great race, and just beat Nathan on the tape. Time, llsccs. The Bicyelo events have been postponed until the track dries. At 3.10 p.m. dienehing rain set in, and the Committee decided to postpone all events for half an hour. The long jump was then proceeding, K. Goro leading at the time with 19ft oiin.
Long Jump—Ryan, Napier, 20ft ■tin, 1.
Quarter-mile Flat—Low, Dunedin, 1; Eraser, Napier, '2; Holder, Wanganui, 3. Time: 52sees. Three Mile Flat—Gell, Masterton (r 1 ), 1; Rankin, Wanganui, 2; Davis, Auckland, 3.
Quarter-milellurdles—Roberts, 1; Martin, 2 ;F. H. Harloy,3. Won easily. A protest was entered against the first and second, on the ground of not jumping the hurdles. The result was, that Roberts and Martin were disqualified; Frank Havlcy, of Wellington, being declared the winner, with Moir, Cliristclmrch, 2nd, and F. Harley, Christchiirch, 3. Throwing the Hammer—Louisson, Cliristclmrch, 75ft 7in, 1. Auckland won the banner, with 32 points; Canterbury, 24; Wanganui, 22; Wellington, 21; llawke's Bay, 17; Otago, 10; Manawatu, 6.
