MASTERTON HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

AUTUMN SHOW. The Autumn Show of the Masterton Horticultural and Industrial Society is being held at the Drill . Hall to-duy. Under the management of the Secretary, Mr T. Gillespie, everything has been arranged to the best advantage, and for the convenience of visitors, The exhibition is generally voted the best Autumn Show the Society ' has ever held, as regards the display i of pot plants, fruit, and vegetables, '. although insufficient publicity was 1 given to it, and as a consequence ouc ' intending exhibitor who was prepared to show no less than 120 named varieties of apples, was unable to make necessary arrangements • in time. The Industrial Department is on this occasion the Show's weakest feature, but some good work ' of various kinds is shown, (htblooms are not so numerous or so good as might be expected, with the exception of dahlias, which are very largely ' shown. The principal exhibitors in ' fruits are, Messrs \V. G. Heard, j Johnston,?. Murray, Gruschow, and A. A. Elkins; in pot plants, Messrs G. Anketell, Collottc, and Murray; in vegetables Messrs W. G. Beard! ' A. A. Elkins, Miss Johnson, J. Carpenter, J. Candy, and H. Hasmussen.
