Messrs Lowes and lorns report at yesterday's fortnightly stock sale, the entries were again considerably in excess of those advertised, proving this the largest sale of the season, In sheep, every class was well represented ; prices showed no improvement upon last sale, and bidding throughout, very dull. The bulk of lines passed, but were mostly all placed afterwards privately. As a j matter of fact, out of a catalogue of nearly 6000 sheep, barely 600 went home unsold, In rams, about 158 were penned, representing some of the best breeders; some 50 being placed. In cattle, we had a very large entry of all classes, and these, . like other stock, dragged under the hammer; but out of a list of 2(5,") ■ head, only 54 went out unsold. Pigs were poorly represented. Horses arc still a drug. The following arc the rates obtained:—; Fat wethers, light, 7s4d; forward, 6s 9d; stores, Ss to fa's Gd; fat ewes, 5s to 5s 3d ; 2-tooth owes, good, 6s lOd; medium, 5s to 5s 3d; poor, 3s ![d; breeding ewes ranged from 3s 6d for good mouthed, l» Is Id for old culls; fat lambs, 5s to 5s 4d ; lambs in the wool to 4s ;shorn,to3sj j culls, from 7d to Is (Id; rams: 1 Lincolns, 2-tooth, 1 to If guineas; I Roniney Marsh some, aged, weie ; quitted from 2s fid to 7s fid. hi ' cattle: beef, for bullocks, £5 to £6 ; ' cows, £4 to £4 ss; large steers, £5 ' 7s; nicdiuin,bU>toßos; 2 years, 60s; yearlings, 40s; calves, 25s to 30s; weaners, 16s (0 18s; dairy stock, of poor quality, therefore neglected; small pigs.
