PIGEON PALACE.

Jilt LOGAN, M, P. Mr Logan does not possess a great number of pigeons just now, because his and other duties take up so much of his time. In November, 1888, a sale of his birds look place at the Hoyal Aquarium, and sixty of them solil for J4(j9 los 6(1, M Our contemporary, iu speaking of ™-Mr Logan's pigeon loft, describes it us a " pigeon palace," and compares it in the following graphic manner lo the saloon of a P, aud 0. steamer The fire extinguishing apparatus is by an eminent firm, and there is a row of ueat buckets marked 'J.W.L.' The fittings lire of snow-white enamelled wood and brass. Certificates bang in frames in the various compai'tmeuts, and zinc-lined cases contain the forage, As the birds enter the lofts their advent is electrically andautomically signalled in Mr Logan's library. There is a dial marked " O.B." (old birds), aud " Y. 13." (young birds), which indicates the loft the new comers belong to. There are bloodred panes of glass, too, through which the arrival of a tired, and, therefore ashy bird can by observed. The lofts are lighted by electricity. It the pigeons' bathroom may be seen a delightful little fountain, the gtthiii jets of which fall with a pleas™ng murmur into a terra-cotta basin. —Answers.
