OUR REST FRIENDS.
MR WALTER BENTLEY AT MASTERTON. . Those who were present at the Masterton Theatre Royal last evening, to hear Mr Walter Bentley give his famous lecture entitled "Our Best Friends," were given a most thorough treat. From the outset tho greatest interest was aroused, and during the evening, as Mr Bentley glided rapidly along, touching here aiidthero" from grave to gay, from lively tosevere," there was not a single dull moment. In due course it was made manifest that books were " Our .Best Friends," and naturally such a subject could not be treated without recourse to illustrative recitals. Those consisted of "My experiences with the French Horn" (Max Adeler), "Polonius' Advice to his Son," "Portia's' Plea for Mercy," " Othello's Apology," and " Clarence's Dream" (Shakespeare), " David Copperfield and tho Waiter" (Dickens)," Breathes there a Man," concluding with " Tamo' Shanter" (Burns), MrW, H. Beotham occupied tho chair, and on his proposal a very hearty vote of thanks was accorded the lecturer.
