THE SCHOOL EXCURSION.
A BIG GATHERING, From a very early hour this morning Masterton was astir,and advantage was taken of the line weather, to join in the Railway excursion to Wellington by fully 'l5O children and some 1300 adults. At half-past four the first cab load reached the station, and from then until the train started, the people—big and little—simply came in streams. Under the management of Mr Couboiimeall confusion was avoided, and although the accommodation was fully taxed, all got safely on board the train, and a more happy looking gathering, it is safe to say, never left Masterton, Amongst those on the train were Mr A. W. Hogg, M.H.R.,Mr Donne (Traffic Manager), and most of the members of the Masterton School Committee, Mr W. H. Jackson, and several of tbeSchool teachers.
Safe Arrival at Wellington. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent). Wellington - , Friday. The excursionists numbering altogether 7f>o, arrived at 10.15, The train was over-crowded,and all adult males bad to take to the platforms. Three extra carriages will be put on for the return journey. The majority of the children and parents dispersed in various directions, a great number following Mr Hogg, who is to pilot them this afternoon.
