MONTHLY MEETING,
The regular monthly meeting of tlio North Wairarapn, Benevolent Society was held this morning, Present—Messrs R. T. Holmes (chairman), 11. D. Dagg, E. I'eist, D. Guild, and W. H. Beetham. JIIXI'iKS. The minutes of last meeting wore read and confirmed. CASI'AI, CASUS. The report on casual cases rolled was read by the Chairman. B , The Public Trust Ollico TOio with reference to n claim of the Society for the funeral expenses of John McLeod,stating thatdeccased's estate only amounted to £1 4s, the residue of which, after the Trust's expenses, amounted to l!Js, which sum had been placed to the Society's . credit.

The case of a man picked up on the read in a fit, came before tho meeting. The medical officer advised forwarding tho man at onco to the place where he came from, as he might become a permanent * burden upon the Society. It was reported thau an able-bodied man and woman had applied for assistance, hut not being considered deserving, tho police moved them on, THE SIOIIGAN CASE. Tho caso of Fred Morgan, suffer'
ing from a bad catiiracfc of tho eyes, ; Mine before tho meeting. It was stated by the Chairman that Dr Hosking had recommended the man being sent to the Wellington Hospital to undergo an opetjUion at the hands of a specialist. Wilis had been done. » THE GOODIN CASE.
An amount of £l3 (is raised% y the Eketaliuna Band was handed over to tho Trustees for tho assistance of Mrs Ellis Goodin mid and family. Somo discussion ensued with regard to tho question of subsidy on the amount, the Secretary pointing out that as the sum had been handed over for a special object, and to the general fund none could bo claimed.
The Chairman thought there was a possibility of tho man becoming chargeable to the. district, and it would therefore be well to ascertain what Mrs Goodin had dono with the amount handed already to her,beforo making further disbursements, GENERAL. t An application asking that the Society continue paying rent for an old man aged 72,wh0 had to support an invalid wife, was dealt witjhwd it was resolved to grant 4s peSpek. The Police Report was read to'tho meeting. Tho action of ' tho Secretary and j Chairman with regard to casual cases, and also to. the readjustment of regular cases was approved. USANCE., , The pay sheet for the month was stated to be £5615s Id; credit balance at date £62 9s Bd, with £6 due from Blenheim and £3O from Wanganui on account of Henry and family,
