The balance sheet presented to the Carterton Volunteer Fire Brigade shows receipts, Borough Council grant £lO, proceeds of concert and donations for services at lires, etc,, £1712s lid, The expenditure was payment off engine debt £ 15, carelaker's .salary £lO,jsnpp!ies £1 12s 7d. The following officers were elected :-Captain,J. A. Dudson (reelected) ; foreman, ttupt. Fairbrotlier (re-elected); Ist Branchman, C. Lunilcy; 2nd do., W. "VVakelin; 3rd do., J. Kiddie; Ist Assistant, H. Armstrong; 2nd do., A. Doivimrd; 3rd do., W. Sexton; Secretary and Treasurer, J, Wakelin, It was resolved to hold <t competition for a medal on some Thursday afternoon next month,
A meeting of parents of children attending the Carterton School yesterday afternoon, Mr W. Moore presiding, It was resolved the excursion by rail to Pigeon Bush and Wellington should take place on Friday 22nd inst, parents to provide their own provisions and take care of their own children ; the Committed and friends to take charge of the children who have no guardians with them.
