Stabbing Case on the Mamari.
* (By Telegnph-Presß Association), Christcuurch", Monday. At the Lyttelton Magistrate's Court to-day, William Henry Pollard was committed for trial on a charga of attempting to stab Isaac Simpson, on board the steamer Mamari. j& Both men aro seamen on boarflSn Mamari, and the evidence fortho prosecution showod that at 11.30 p.m. on Saturday accused came on board tho worse for liquor, and wanted to fight. Simpson struck tho accused, who ran to his bunk, got a sheath knife, and made an attempt to cut Simpson's throat. Later on ho made another attempt to stab Simpson on tho back, but was prevented by tho nightwatchmanof the steamer. Tho accused, for the defence, said he knew nothing of the chargs against him.
