A MOXTtt ago there was a breeze at the Land Board. Mr Commissioner Baker, in pursuance of duty, had sent the special settlers of the Mnstei'ton Reform Association a bowstring, but Mr Ho™, M.H.R., would not allow it to be pulled. The Minister of Lands was necessarily the referee in the dispute and lie appears to have given way to Jlr Hogg, Two years grace have been given to the settlers in question, and this concession will enable many of them to occupy their land. To others it will be of no advantage, for tlicy do not possess the means to take up considerable areas of bush property, and in some instances they are not the class of men, even if they had the means, to cope with the difficulties incidental to clearing and improving land. However, if Mr Hogg's intervention enables 2H per cent of the members of the Association to go on their land and stay there, it will be agood tiling for the Colony.
