(From Our Own Correspondent.) Friday. A violent galo linn bem blowing here since yesterday moving doing considerable darango to the fruit crops, Tho bush fires in the vicinity of Malarawa spread with alarming rapidity endangering many settlers' homesteads yesterday andtho Greytown Fire Brigade proceeded to the spot and rendered great assistance. Much damage was dono, The Brigade returned this morning. The state school bell rang a fire alarm yesterday afternoon, causing quite an excitement. The scene of the lire was an old building adjoiuing Hayes and Wenden's stablos, The firo was extinguished before any damage was done. Mr J. Quin, tho survivor of the Greytown party who left for the Coolgardio goldfields, is on his way home

Bland Alfred's Comedy and Burlesque Company performed in the Palace Hall last night to a small audience, Tho entertainment was very good—but the district is suffering from a scarcity of money just now—hence such a small attendance. The bush fires on the western hills presented a beautiful appearance last night tho sky being lit' up with the ruddy reflection for miles round. It seema a great pity that so much of the beautiful bush scenery on the hills is allowed to bedestroyod.
