TENUI NOTES.
(From Our Own Correspondent) Wednesday.
On Saturday last a team of cricketers representing Tcnui journeyed to Langdale to play that station, and after a very interesting game, were victorious by 12 runs on the first innings. The visitors and their friends were most hospitably entertained by Mr and Mrs Elder. Considering it was the first match of the season for many of the player-i, very fair form was shown. For the winners Joplin and F. Johnston divided bowling honors by taking five wickets each, and for the losers Austin was the best bowler, capturing no fewer than eight wickets. The visitors knocked up 82 runs, of which F. Johnston, who soon rattled up 3G, was chief scorer. He batted in excellent form, and hit hard and clean. G. Johnston batted well for 11. For the homo team Austin, 17, and Maile 22, were the chief scorers, the latter getting his runs by streaky play. In the second innings of Langdale, Elder 27 not out, Austin 19, and Eeid 19, batted well. They had lost six wickets for 88 runs when time was called. Followimg are the scores:—

Some timo ago, it was stated that repairs could not bo undertaken until the approaches wore dry enough to enable tho contractor to draw the piles. There is a good opening for one of our young colonials, who has been home and obtained his diploma.
