GREYTOWN NOTES
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Tuesday. Bush fires are burning all round the district, and in cousequence, we are at times almost smoke dried, The Rev. S. J. Gibson left here to-day, for Sydney, on a six weeks' holiday. The Mutual Improvement Class met last night, when a paper on " Acting" was read by Mr Ernest Haigh. The usual discussion followed, At the close, the President (Rev. S. J. Gibson) received the Society's best wishes on the eve of his departure for a holiday, I regret to hear that tho doctors who are operating upon Mr John Beero'seye, in the Wellington Hospital, have very little hope of his recovery. Strange to say, his brother in Napier, is suffering from tho same complaint, and his condition is critical. Six out of the nine prospectors who spent a fortnight in the Taral'ua s, fossicking for the " colour," have returned, but do not give glowing accounts of their success. Perhaps the remaining three, on their return, will open the eyes of the world by revealing the fact, that they have discovered a second Coolgardie. Lot ub hope so. A lady cyclist passed through hero yesterday afternoon m route for your (own, and caused quite a mild excitement. The Band of Hope reeuine their meetings again this month, and the first meeting takes placo next Tuesday evening.
