WAIRARAPA CALEDONIAN SOCIETY.
MEETING OF DIRECTORS. A meeting of the Directors of the Wairarapa Caledonian Society was held on Saturday afternoon in the Club Hotel, Sir Alexander McLeod, (Vice-president) in the chair. An apology was read from Mr David Guild (President). The minutes of the previous meciinpf were read and confirmed.
_ A statement of tho limmcinl position of the Society to date was submilted, and the meeting considered the affairs very satisfactory on the whole, the year's transactions showed a surplus of £2l, which would enable the Society to clear off all its old liabilities, ami start with it small balance to credit.
A protest received against S. A. Carlson, the winner of the Maiden Race, was considered. A newspaper report of a meeting bold in Hawkes' Bay, showed that one Carlson had won a number of events previous to entering as a maiden on New Year's Dav.
It was resolved that Carlson bo asked for an explanation and if found to be the same competitor, the prize be given to the second man, F. A. Renall. Carlson would also lose the prize formost points at the meeting, which would go to i). Aimott.
The Finance Committee reported that all accounts were passed for payment, aspei'list handed in.
A unanimous vote of thanks wasaccorded in Mr Alexander Mcf.eod for providing lens and supervising the preparation for tree-felling and sawing utnlwits. Mr McLeod replied, saying it gave him great pleasure in doing anything in his power to help the success of what he considered a popular portion of the programme.
