The ceremony of the consecration of Dr. Wallis, tho now Biihop of Wellington, took plnce this morning at St, Paul's Church. Admission was by ticket only, and the building w»s crowded.

The choir was picked from those of the three principal Anglican Churches, and sang Bplendidly. v , At 10.30 the procession of bishops' and clergy, numbering fifty-nine, entered the Church. It included tho Bishops of Salisbury, Auckland, Waiapu, Christchurch, Dunedin, Nelson, and tho Bishop-olect. Among the clergy were a number of Native clergymen, Bishop Julius conducted communion service, and the Bishop of Salisbury preached. His discourse was principally dovoted to sketching the Christian ideal of the leader of the Church ; with references to the Apostles, and especially St. Paul. His Grace warned his hearers and caudidate, that tlie besetting sin of the Anglo-Saxon race was devotion to material comfort. In New Zealand he fenred, owing to its isolation, and the favorable conditions of life, the propensity was likely to be accentuated rather than diminished. The Bishop therefore must hive aomothing of the Christian warrior in him, and be prepared to combat this tendency. He concluded by commending Dr. Wallis to their prayers, saying that from what he knew of him personally, he belived be would worthily fill the post to which he had been chosen.

The anthems was then sung while Dv Wallis put on the symbol, and he was then presented to the acting. Primate and authority for the consecration was read by Mr Quick, Chancellor ot the Diocese.

The ceremony therefrom followed the ritual prescribed for all choral services, the last act being the laying on of hands, by all the Bishops present. The Service lasted till 1 o'clock, the formal installation of the new Bishop takes place this morning.
