NORTH WAIRARAPA BENEVOLENT SOCIETY.

Monthly Meeting, The ordinary monthly meeting of the Trustees was held this morning. Present, Messrs It. T. Holmes. G. Heron, D. Guild, and E. Feist. Mr R. T. Holmes was re-elected Chairman for the ensuing year. SEW MEMBERS. The Chairman welcomed Messrs Heron and Guild as members of the ; Trust, SIIXCTES. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. COHItESPONDEXCK, From Mrs Howard, stating that her husband had returned to New Zealand, and would in future support herself and family. Sho thanked the Trustees for the assistance rendered to her in her need.

T. Clark, of Eketahuua, who is receiving relief, asked that the amount be increased as ho is unable to find employment, The Inspector recommended the case to consideration of the Trustees, and it was resolved to increase the allowance to 10s per week. From Mr W. G. Beard covering a cheque for two pounds for Xmas boxes to children on the Society's books.

It was resolved to convey a vote of thanks to Messrs Beard and Dairymple for their kindness to those receiving relief, The action of the Chairman and Secretary in connection with tho casual cases was confirmed, The Goodin case was considered by the Trustees, together with an opinion from Mr W. G. Beard, and tho report of Constable Darby, of Carterton, It was also reported that a subscription of £l2 or £l3 had been collected in Eketahuua, and a list was in circulation and well supported in Masterton, It was also stated that £4O was duo in wages,' It was 'resolved that the action of tho Chairman and Secretary bo confirmed in providing accommodation for Goodin's wife, who was in urgent need at the present time. At the same time the Trustees do not consider they have any liability, as the relatives are able to support him. It was also decided that relief be discontinued as soon as Mrs Goodin is recovered from her confinement,

The application of Henry Wald-' ridge, an old man, for relief, or to bo located in the Old Men's Home, was considered, and tho Trustees decided that they could not assist, and that ho must apply to his family. It was decided to make application for the admission of Timothy Corbett to the Old Men's Homo. The Chairman stated that Mrs Weaver had left Messrs Dorset's, where she had been located, and refused to go where tho Secretary had arranged for her, The Trustees docided to stop the allowance made for Mrs Weaver's support. The ordinary cases wereconsidered and relief ordered to •be continued until next meeting. . ; Accounts for the month (inoludiing'£9lss 3d potty cash) amounting to £3B 14s lid were passed for payment.!. .
