SUPPOSED SUICIDE.
(ByTelegraph,—Press Association). Lyttelton, Wednesday. John Eeid, omployed ns a fireman and greaser in the Lyttelton Harbour Board's cool stores, has been missing since last night. It is supposed that he has committed suicide, as ho has been very despondent of late, owing to the serious illness of his daughter in Sydney, and had threatened to drown himself. Ho was one of the lifeboat crew at the Timaru wrecks in 1882, and received a medal for distinguished bravory. He leaves a widow and a large family.
