The report w tlic old Mnsterton Town Hall, laid before the Town Lands Trustees last night, showed that promises of subscriptions amounting to £133 wero made in 1872, but only £27 3s appears to have been paid, the Trust paying between £BOO and £9OO for the Literary Institute as it was then called, Any revenue derived from letting the building was devoted to paying oil overdraft and liabilities incurred in connection with the building. In 1877-8-9 the Trustees paid £220 to the Library Committee for a new site for the Literary Institute, and granted the remainder of Town Aero 10-1, as a perpetual endowmentfor such Institute. From that date to the end of 181)3, the Town Lands Trus tees havo paid for the present Institute, including site, £1)30 2s, When the £7UO insurance was received there was also received £3uo from the Government for the sale nf the old Institute ground, and£2sU for the sale of the G-reytown interest. The sums expended were:—Compensation to lessee, £llß os; Education Hoard for Town Acre 89, £100; Park Trust £135 ; J. Chapman, compensation for 11 Section 29, £200; purchase of land in Bannister Street £;)72; overdraft payment £97 17s lid.
