Wcummpa Racing Club. Second Day. The Summer Meeting of the Wairarapa Racing Club was continued on the Tauheronikau Course yesterday, under rather adverso circumstances as regards the weather The morning opened promising, andmost of the people had gained the ground before the threatening clouds were noticed to any extent. Soon after twelve, however, rain commenced to fall, and increased as the afternoon advanced, thoroughly damping the ardour of the many who were attired in holiday clothing. The arrangements were as usual carried out without a hitch, and the ollicers are to be congratulated. The attendance of the public was again very largo. The grandstands, booths, and various rooms were crowded all the afternoon by the great number of shelter-seekers, the ladies especially having a rather monotonous lime of it. The racing was excellent throughout, the starting good, and the finishes, as a rule, being very exciting. Owing to the heavy rain, tho top dressing on the course was soon in a slippery condition, making the running uncertain to a marked degree. The Toad again proved his undoubted quality by winning the hack double, carrying top weight in botli events, and running ii great horse in a third event. The W.R.C. Handicap was won by Von Tempsky, after a splendid race, paying his admirers ;ED 17s. The largest dividend was £9 19s, paid out on Review in the New Year Handicap. The following are tho details:-
