Masterton Borough Council.
Ordinary Medina. The regular fortnightly meeting of the Masterton Borough Council was held on Monday evening. Present : His Worship the Mayor, and Crs Hcssey, Hughes, Mutrie, Cullen, Wagg, Chamberlain, and Feist. MINUTES. The minutes of the last meeting wero read and confirmed, GAS, L. Caselberg applied to have gas laid on to his house in Sussex Street. The application was referred to the Gas Committee with power to act. WAIPOUA BRIDGE. [ The Mayor explained tho result of the recent conference with regard to the repairs to the Waipoua Bridge. It was agreed then to ask the Council to contribute])™ fata, which would mean about ono fourth, and the bridge to be vested in the County Council.
Cr Hesaey questioned whether the Borough could legally expend anything on the bridge, The Mayor said he was positive that they would have to tako some responsibility, as at least ono approach was in the- Borough. Cr I'eisfc moved that the action of tko sub-commitlee be confirmed,with regard to the proposed contribution towards repairing the bridge. Cr Chamberlain seconded the motion which was carried. FIRE BRIGADE. Permission was granted to the Municipal Fire Brigade to hold a torchlight procession. GAS COMMITTEE, The Gas Committee's report was read and adopted. footpath. Cr Wagg moved that the footpath from Hall-street to the railway station he tarred and sanded. Cr Cullen seconded. He thought the work a necessary one, The Mayor thought it better to let the motion stand over until next meeting,as it was a question whether, with the work in hand, there would be tar enough oh hand,—This course was adopted, '..' ..CjASTAHv It was resolved, to invite.'tenders •
in Mastorton and Wellington for the! construction of a gas tank, in accordance with tho plans submitted by Mi' L. J. Fordo. On tho motion of Cr Cullen tho Council then adjourned
