WAIRARAPA CALEDONIAN SOCIETY.
(Ming of Directors, A meeting of the Directors of tho Wairar&pa Caledonian' Society was held on Saturday afternoon in the Club Hotel, llr David Guild, President, in thochair. : The minutes of the previous meeting were lead and confirmed. \ It was, 'decided not to dispose of the right to place a shooting gallery etc,, 'on the ground on the day of sports,.' The tondcr of the M.MF.B, Band was accepted. A second prizo of 20s was added for bagpipe musio, if possible the competitors to appear in Highland costume. The following Judges were appointed: Running events, Messrs Abbott, Hessey, Gray and Watson; caber, stone, vaulting, etc,, Messrs John Harvey, Geo. Heron, A. Mutrio and Geo. Day; wrestling, Messrs Walter Perry, A. Walker, A. Stewart, and E, W. Dorset; sawing aud hewing, A. McLeod, C. E. Daniell, R. McKay, O. H. Osborne, William Lowes, and W. H. Beetham; dancing and piping, Messrs Harvey and Miller, with power to call in a referee; othcrevents, the rest of tho Directors; starters, Messrs F, C. Lewis, James JJuir, and A, A. Elkins; timekeeper, Mr Wm, Dougall; timekeepers for hewing and sawing, Messrs W. B.Buick, James Muir, and W, B. Abbott.
It was decided lo provide ftmusement for children, such as bobbing for oranges, treacle dabbing, etc., under the direction of Mr El kins, Mr A. M'cLeod was authorised to procure assistance for preparing ground, etc-,, for tree-felling, hewing and sawing competitions, The Secretary was instructed to invite private tenders for carting.
