Taratahi-Carterton Racing Club.

A Protest, (From Our Own Correspondent,) „ Carterton, Monday, A special general meeting of the Tavatehi- Carterton Racing Club was held on Saturday to consider a reply from tlio stewards of the Metropolitan Club. . Between 40 and 50 members were present, A telegram from the Secretary, Mr H. M. Lyon, Was read which stated the Club declined to alter their previous decision to refuse the Taratabi Club's programme for a second meeting, A warm discussion ensued which resulted in tho following resolution being adopted for transmission to tho Metropolitan Clnb, viz., " That this meeting strongly protests against the action of the Metropolitan Club in refusing to pass their programme in the face of the fact that it passed one for a Cavalry Corps which had no cow and no appointments, as against a plub which had spent large Bums to pt'oyide accommodation for the public, and also a good stake by way pf encouraging a higher standard of racing in the Wairarapa, jnd looks upon their actioa as a gross injustice, unworthy of a body of men who are supposed- to control sport.
