Mr Cadman takes that Portfolio. In Cabinet yesterday the arrangemontß to be made in connection with tho transference of the railways to Government control were completed and definitely settled. The Hon. Mr Cadman, at tho request of bis colleagues, has consented to take the railways portfolio, and will therefore bo Minister for Bailways. Mr Thomas Ronayne, one of the present Commissioners, is*to be General Manager; and, as mentioned yesterday, Mr H. J. Blow is to be Under-Secretary. ... Mr Hudson, Traffic Manager at Auckland; receives the appointment of Assistant General Manager. . Mr Grant, District Manager at Dtvnedin, is to be transferred to Auckland, Mr Arthur, sfcationmastor at Dunedin, taking Mr Grant's plow There are also a number of minor alterations. The saving effected amounts to between £3OOO and £4OOO per annum. Mr James McKerrow, Chief Com-1 misßioner, has boon appointed Land Purchase Inspector uudertho Native Land and Acquisition Act and Land for Settlement Act, and will therefore become an officer uuder the Minister of Lands. Mr J. L, Scott was offered an engagement, says the N.Z. Times, but he declined it, as tho salary offered was, in his opinion, uot sufficient.
