A Warning. [To the Editor W,D, Times,] Sir,—Allow me a few lines in your valuable paper. For somo time past ' we have had hawkers and canvassers travelling through the Wairarapa, getting orders for fruit trees grown in Melbourne, Australia, and it is a well-known fact that trees raised in a hot climate, where they are rushed and raised up, are not suited to a colder climate like that of New Zealand;afaciwhich has already proved Many trees were brought year from Australia, most'of them are now dead. Our worthy canvassers will not trade with storekeepers, managers, or gardeners, they lujht shy of men who know as much as themselves, I would therefore warn those about to plant that they can purchase trees double grafted, and many of the same kind for less money, from prac- . tical nurserymen in Maßterton, Wellington or South Island.
