Th' 3 tugboat Awahina run into the guardboat Princess between Middle 1 Hoad and Watson's Bay. 1 The lattsr was making the usual ! round of the forts, and had about fifty persons aboard, including j officers with their wives and chil- ( dren, The Awahina struck the Princess . almost amidships, and she canted over so suddenly that 20 persons, in- j eluding the captainwerethrown into • the water. ' The captain succeeded in clamber- ! ing on board again, and. although j the fires were extinguished by the inrnßh of the water, he managed j with the steam already up, to beach the vessel in Chowder Bay. 1
