North Wairarapa Liberal Association.
The North Wairarapa Liberal Association hold its usual weekly meeting on Monday evening, Mr C. Hughes presiding. Correspondence was read from Mr.l. P. Mercierof the New Zealand Workers' Union asking the cooperation of the Liberal Association, in bis endeavour to establish a local branch of the Union he represents, Mr Meieier who was in attendance, complained that he had been misrepresented by the opposition press. It had stated that the Liberal Association was not in sympathy with his mission, but ho was sure that they wore, and he would like it to appear in the public press that such was the case.
He reported that ho had mado a most successful canvas of the whole district, and that ho had been far more successful in obtaining mombors than on his previous visit. His object now was tocall a meeting andestablishabraucboftheNewZea,land General Workers' Union, on a sure and tirni basis.—ltwasresolvcd that Mr Mcrcier's request he complied.with.
Mr A. Vile, tho Acting-Secretary, was elected to bo permanent Secretary. : Ono new member was elected.
The ladies committee attended, and informed the meeting that they wished to make a presentation to Mr A. W, Hogg, M.H.R., in the meeting room, on Monday eveniug next, 17th December.
The testimonial balance-sheet was read and adopted, A number of tho testimonial forms are still out in the ■outlying districts, consequently it has been decided to postpone the supplementary presentation until after January the sth,
