'"I may be'greeu, but I am not quite a cabbage" said one of Dickens' heroines. Can the simple shearers of this district improve on this and each one truthfully exclaim " I am green, I am quite a cabbage ?" Last year a delegate of the Workers' Union collected from, it is said, some two hundred of them five shillings per man. The annual report of the Conference held at Christchurch in April last says " Masterton balance sheet has not been sent in," We understand that this delegate, now in Masterton, lias not explained as yet why the Masterton balance sheet was not sent in, and we offer him the use of our columns to do so.
