WAIRARAPA NORTH COUNTY COUNCIL.

Statutory meeting,

The annual statutory meeting of the Council was hold to-day at noon, Mr F. G. Moore, clerk, presiding, Presont: Crs von Reden, Groves, W. H. Bcotham, Hnndyeide, Maunsoll, Cockburn-Hood and Stuckey. | ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN. Proposed by Or W. H, Beetham seconded by Or Maunsell that Or von Reden bo chairman for the ensuing year, Tho resolution was earned, Cr von Reden took tho chair, and returned thanks for his re-election, and said he would do his best to act, with impartiality. He stated that it would be necessary this year to practice considerable economyontho general account, seeing that the Government had thought fit to put on tho County Conncils the cost of Valuation and Licensing Elections which would in round numbers cost £4OO this year, itemß which had not beon allowed for when the estimates woro prepared. The cost of Chantable Aid had also increased, and tho rates would suffer in consequence. WORKS AND FINANCE COMMITTEE, The whole Council was elected a Works and Financo Committee. REPRESENTATIVES. Crßeotham was elected representative to tho United District Charitable Board. Crs Beetham, Stuckey, and Cock-burn-Hood were elected to tho District Hospital Board. Cra Beetham and Guild and Messra Dagg aud Holmes were appointed to the Wairarnpa North Benovolent Society, and Cr Beetham to represent the Council on tho Wellington Bonevolent Society.
