Riotous Unemployed.
Brutal Treatment of Women, jMrnimmss, November 26. Forty unemployed broke out in riot at Kaneira, wrecked a wino shop thero because thoy wero refused drink, and brutally ill-treated two womon and several Chinamen. A constable who interfered was knocked down, and drawing his revolver fired on the mob. The ringleader washitandsoriously wounded, This cowed the rioters, several of whom were ultimately arrested, (Received November 27,10.15 a.m.) Melbourne, November 27.
Hopkinson, ono of the rioters who was shot, lmd his leg amputated, and lies in a critical condition. The ringleaders have been sentenced to terms of imprisonment from four months downward,
