Monday. In Friday's Greytown notes thoro wbb a slight error. In roforring to an accident to Miss Mersnn it read as MrsMerson, The younylady in question received a very serious kick from a horse, breaking several small bones in tho nose, and . cu'ting a gash the shapo of a horse shoe right round tho noso. The sufferer i'b doing as well as can be oxpeoted under tho painful circumstances. A young girl named Hiteman, whose parents reside in Feathorston, was arrested bore last Friday on Bevoral charges of theft, Tho child was brought up before Mr 0. W, Hornbloiv, J.P., and remanded until \ to day. A high wind prevailed here on Saturday, causing slight injury to tho fruit crop. I Young Fred Beard, youngest son of Mr 0, Board, of this town, had the misfortune to break his arm abovo the wi'ist. He foil from a horso last Saturday. While a young man named Thos. fijerson (brother toMissMcrsonwho fo||t with an accident last week),wns giving a horse a spin round the Moroa course early last Saturday morning, the girth of tho saddle by some means became loose, causing • the saddle to swerve and precipitate Mersou to the ground. Ho received I a sevore shaking and some scratches ' about tho face. Ho was unconscious for a fow hours, but is now able to get about again, ■ Mrs Gibson and two children •leavo horo for a trip to Australia this week. The Band of Hope Social which takes place to-morrow evening is expected to bo a pleasant affair and a big success, The crops dowu this way are looking very well this season, Hay will not be so plentiful this season, I am glad to report that Mr Arthur Jones has recovered from his recent illnoss, and is able to get about again, Mrs Terry, senr., of Papawai, has teen very sorionsty ill for the last week. I believe sho has taken a turn for tho better, Sicknesshas been prevalent in this district lately, perhaps the changeable weather has something to do with it. Mr J. D. Heagerty was re-elected Mayor of the Borough last week. The interest taken in the affair was very little, the present Mayor being tho only person nominated. What a contrast to the Masterton election!
