The Victorian Civil Service.
(Received Nov. 20,7,45 p.m.) Mhmiodrrk, Nov, 20, Thereisovery prospect thatdraatic reforms in the Civil Service will lie recommended by the committee appointed by the Cabinet. The Premier approves of tho amalgamation of the Customs and I'innnce Departments, as well as of thoso of Works and Railway Construction. Among other changes discussed is the abolition of tho separate portfolio of Postmaster-Goneral, aud the inclusion of that department in tho portfolios held by some other Minister.
(Received Nov. 21,10.50 a.m.) Mki.houkse, Nov. 21. Replying to a question tho Premier snid he did not feol justified in recalling tho Agent-General in tho interosffl of retrenchment, but the Government would take steps to reduce tho salary to futuro holders of the post.
